If you have been affected by
the 61 years of Sri Lankan war or if you know of any one who is affected by
this war than you are encouraged to register.
Why registering is
important?
Protection against such
atrocities as genocide, large scale massacres, torture, arbitrary arrest,
unlawful detention, enforced disappearance, extra-judicial killing, rape –
starts with information collection to substantiate the claims. The
information collected will be used to lobby the respective authorities and
speed up the remedial process and seek measures to end the culture that
perpetrates these evils with impunity.
As Sri Lanka’s genocidal war
on Tamils intensified over the past few months, international organizations
have continuously underplayed the figures within the ‘Safe Zone’ and the
number of casualties, leaving Tamils not knowing the fate of their families.
The official Government Agent reports submitted to the authorities in March
2009 stated over 330,000 civilians were in the Vanni. Now, the estimates
range from 280,000-300,000 remaining interned in the camps, yet the UN and
the Sri Lankan government dispute claims that the casualties of this war
could be greater than 20,000. All of these civilians must be accounted for.
Therefore it is paramount that we register all our family members, relatives
and friends, who were in the area during the conflict.
The Sri Lankan State wants
Tamils to ‘Disappear’ without a trace. It is up to us to stop it!
We cannot fail our kith
and kin again!
Please call 020 8808
0465/07852 304 397 to register details TODAY!
Please see attached notice
for further details.
Kindly pass this information on to your family, friends and alert your
local Tamil schools, shops, Temples and any other Tamil organisations to
assist with this registration.
Please stress the
importance of success of registry this to safeguard the lives of the
interned civilians. Our collective effort on this documentation of the
violation of human rights is paramount and central for the protection of
people at both national and international levels.
Kindly print this flyer and encourage everyone who has been affected by
the war since 1948 to register. If you able to volunteer with this
initiative please contact the numbers above.
